Scout

SCOUT is a clever ladder-climbing card game with a twist: every card has two potential values, and players are not allowed to rearrange their hand.

Each card is dual-indexed, showing a different number on each end. During setup, the deck is shuffled thoroughly, and cards are dealt without adjusting their orientation. Players can choose to rotate their entire hand once, but cannot change the order of the cards.

On your turn, you either play a set that beats the current one on the table, or you pass and "scout" — taking a card from the current set and inserting it into your hand at any position without rearranging the others. Timing your plays and knowing when to scout is key to success.
