Ingenious

Ingenious (also known as Einfach Genial) is a clever and elegant tile-laying strategy game where players compete to balance their scores across multiple colors.

Each turn, players place a domino-style tile made of two connected hexes onto the board, earning points for extending lines of matching colors. The twist is that your final score is determined by your lowest color, not your highest, so focusing on just one or two colors will not lead to victory. Success depends on balancing all six colors to keep your weakest one as strong as possible.

The game includes 120 tiles, each showing two colored hexes. Players draw from a personal rack of six tiles and score points for every same-colored hex in a straight line from their newly placed pieces. Reaching 18 points in any color grants an immediate extra turn. If your rack lacks tiles in your lowest-scoring color, you may discard all tiles and draw six new ones to rebalance your options.

Play continues until no tiles can be placed or a player scores 18 in every color. The winner is the player whose lowest color score is the highest.

Ingenious also offers solitaire and team variants, allowing both solo and paired gameplay with a shared score of up to 36 points.
